Later this year, a very special guest, Dr. Tom Seeley, author of Honeybee Democracy and Following Wild Bees.

The Sixth Annual Bee Fest was held on May 19, 2018 in collaboration with the Adorni Center and ECO Eureka. The event was a great success with the theme “Dance of the Pollinators” thanks to many local sponsors, donors and vendors.

The Fifth Annual Bee Fest was held on May 13, 2017 in collaboration with the Adorni Center and ECO Eureka. The event was a great success with the theme “Long Live the Queen” thanks to many local sponsors, donors and vendors.

Nearly 1000 visitors learned about bees and beekeeping, native plants, sampled local honey, mead and other delicacies. Local musicians and artists provided festival-goers with a pleasant atmosphere. Local businesses and organizations featured information on a range of topics, wonderful crafts and local products.
Other favorites included the Art Show for both children and adults.
Special workshops on mead making, getting started with bees and building homes for native Mason bees kept visitors busy. As usual the demonstration hive was very popular with visitors and so was the raffle for beautiful baskets filled with local specialties.

Collaborations with Local Businesses

Eureka Natural Foods

Supports bees and the community with the “Change for Change” Program

The kind folks at Eureka Natural Foods lend a hand every year by assisting in fundraising for the HBCA. The goal is to engage  customers to “round up” grocery purchases and to make a donation of that change, or in some cases a fistful of dollars on behalf of the HCBA and our local bees. A record year it was with  over $2000 granted that will go toward continuing education and a honey extractor for local beekeepers. We are grateful to the ENF staff and customers for their generous support.
